Scout Camps Summer 2010

As the summer is fast approaching Cappanalea OEC prepares for the first Scouting groups of the Summer season. Cappanalea OEC can cater for two Scouting troops at a time, and offers two different programmes. The Standing Camp programme still proves to be very a popular programme. For the standing camp programme the centre arranges all the staffing; catering; equipment; in course transport and programme requirements as well as pick up from Killarney Railway Station. The centre can organise everything and take the hassle out of planning your summer camp. Included in the week-long programme the scouts visit the local sports complex; and have a days tour to Crag Cave in Castleisland and the Aquadome in Tralee.
The second programme that the centre offers is a Scouting Camp where a troop visit the Centre with all their own camping equipment and food and run their own programme as well as partaking in some activities with the Centre.
The centre has two camp sites, one site overlooks Caragh Lake and the other overlooks Cappanalea Lake, the sites have a water tap and portaloo. The scouts also have access to the main building for showers and toilets. Each site has a camp fire area and wood can be brought down from the wood store to the site for traditional camp fire nights. Scouts who look after their own catering for their stay have access to a food store where there are fridges and freezers for storing their food while they are camping on site.
For more information on these courses you can contact the centre.
